1622 Walnut Street, Cincinnati, Ohio
This project, currently under construction, involved designing three residential units in a gutted Italianate rowhouse in Over-the-Rhine. Two of the units were simple efficiancy and one bedroom rental units on the first floor. The upper two floors and attice were combined into one unit for the building's owner. The bedrooms were located on the second floor, while an open plan maximized the usable space and light on the more public third floor. A portion of the unusable attic floor was removed to provide more volume in the main living space, opening up a loft for additional living space. The building is very narrow, and all mechanical and plumbing lines were concentrated in a few cores to preserve the windows and views.
